While attending college at the University of Georgia I, like many others, had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. I found myself just taking classes that I thought would peak my interest. But this was getting quite expensive so I gave it one last shot and enrolled in a photojournalism class.I realized very quickly that this was the only area of study that could truly hold my interest long term.
I transferred to Gwinnett Technical Institute because to my amazement the equipment and the curriculum were far superior to that of UGA. I obtained my degree in Commercial Photography & Video Production and was fortunate enough to win a State photography contest and was also awarded Best Portfolio for my graduating class. After graduation I was hired by Emory University Hospital. There could not have been a better training ground for photography & video production than this cutting edge hospital. My duties included Surgical / Public Relations photography & Directing / Producing hospital educational videos. After 2 ½ wonderful years at Emory, I took a job with Gwinnett Health System where I worked for 12 years as a Media Specialist. My duties expanded to also include audio and aerial photography. At Gwinnett I was also honored as the December 1994 Associate of the month, founding President of The Georgia Hospitals Associations Medical Media Professionals, and published in several national magazines. I have always done freelance work on the side but realized my dream was to own my on production company. Michael Black Productions has been in business for 4 years now and I look forward to exceeding your expectations in quality and price - GUARANTEED. |
